the sleppys

I’m busy making Halloween costumes. Ty is going to be a bat. He decided that more than one year ago. He has a whole list compiled of what he will be in future Halloweens. Kyle keeps changing his mind. He wants to be Robin Hood, Link, Legolas, Peter Pan, a spider, Harry Potter, Frodo Baggins, Bilbo Baggins, Robin Hood, Link, a spider, a dwarf…. He finally decided that he’d be Bilbo Baggins – the younger Bilbo from The Hobbit. He already has a sword to “pretend to be Sting,” the sword that Bilbo found in the trolls’ cave. Taylor’s costume was given to me by one of my piano students who grew out of it. It’s Tinkerbell. Taylor will wear her regular shoes because the costume’s shoes are high heels, and two year olds have no business wearing high heels, for heaven’s sake.

I’m also making warm weather pajamas for the three older children. The boys have only one pair of warm weather pajamas, and Taylor has two. When the pj’s are dirty, Ty resolves to wearing his cool weather pj’s with the arms and legs rolled up so that he wears out the elastic on the wrists and ankles. And that bugs me crazy. Crazy. The fabric store was having a sale on pajama fabrics, so I’m working on that, too because the cool weather isn’t coming for several more weeks.
